MIB men in black, The Neuralizer is a pen like device that extends to
erases parts of a persons memory, useful if people have seen to much.
This model was made out of aerospace quality aluminium and incorporated
a camera flash unit to simulate the mind altering effect as seen in the
film. The model was milled and turned by hand out of a solid bar of
metal.

cross-section
model
This demonstration model is a cross-section of Sir Frank Whittles jet
engine. The model was created using styrene sheets and some vacuum
forming to create the shell, the internal components are a mixture of
materials, metal and even MDF. This model is also motorised to
demonstrate the moving parts within the engine.
Class
room teaching aid
A teaching aid is a device to help visually understand a process, this
teaching aid demonstrates the internal effect of a combustion engine,
when the piston reaches TDC (top dead centre) the spark ignites,
symbolised here as a bulb lighting up, the cylinder head and boar is
transparent (layered perspex) allowing the viewer to see the piston
travel. the whole unit is electronic and incorporates an RPM speed
controller that helps the realization of a timing mechanism connected
to the spark (bulb) lighting up.

INTERACTIVE 3D |
Hugh Bnner (HB Climbing) an internationally recognised manufacturer of
climbing and outdoor safety equipment. when i was presented with the
opportunity of developing this carbon fibre ice axe the project was in
its concept stage, the company had an idea of what it would like to
produce but nothing more than an idea at that time, the first thing i
did was to make a mock up of the idea as a visual representation, from
there i developed the model into a fully working prototype that passed
the safety tests.
During my relationship with this company i also created a concept
rescue stretcher for them, although this concept model was not
developed any further than a semi functional representation. this was a
collaborative project between HB and my University, while i was on the
final year of my BA (hons) degree.
Many of these examples have back up photos and preparation work that
in some cases can be more interesting to some than the actual final
model, we will be providing links to back up these pages in the future,
these pages will go into more detail about specific projects. And will
essentially be a making of / and behind the scenes look at some of our
work, we will also be including some tutorials.
The cross-section of artefacts on this page is to describe the
varying types of model making that we have undertaken in the past, due
to the nature of our work some models such as prototypes can not be
displayed here due to client confidentiality.
